RIVERSIDE 3-5 LOUGHBOROUGH ROVERS
4 JAN 2009

ROLL OVER FOR ROVERS

Happy new year to you all.

There seems to be competition for places at the moment so you should all be aware that no-ones place is guaranteed, especially after this weeks performance.

It would be hard to pick a man of the match from a side that normally has 3 or 4 that stand out for one reason or another.
Defence worked hard but once again you didn't sort out how to over come the long ball problem, talk to each other on or off the pitch and decide who's taking the man and who is going to sweep.

The coloured lad up front wasn't half the player you made him look, he needed to be marked tighter and not allowed time to turn.
Midfield, who played in midfield ?   Sorry lads I cant really remember,   you didn't really get hold of the game. Not the best of conditions but they managed to knock some decent balls forward perhaps we should have played the long ball as well with a couple of big lads in the middle up front
Up front well done Ash best goal of the day but apart from that we didn't really create our own chances we lacked
heart in the challenge, although conditions were difficult to take the ball under control it was the same for there defence and we should have put the defenders under more pressure.

Easy to say, difficult to play... more passion required on sunday.

Riverside v Britannia Inn

WELCOME BACK!

With some tactical changes made to the side that played last week it was apparent from the kick off the team seemed to have a lot more confidence and understanding throughout the ranks.

Admitingly the opposition were poor but they continued to try and play football and indeed created several chances before the new Riverside Goal Machine switched on and blew them away before half time.

In saying all that, it was good to see the confidence return to the side and also to see a more organised and communicative back four.

The midfield took control and to be honest it could have been 18 or 20 if all the chances had been taken, never the less, well done lads.

Finally I think a word of praise should go to Britannia for the sporting way they played the game, in view of the score line and also to Aaron for doing a excellent Job in refereeing the game and in trying to find the arse ole refs dummy somewhere on the park.

Match Report Sunday 7th Dec

Nearly but not quite!

What a great effort everyone made on Sunday, well done, but unfortunately for no reward.

This was a cup game with everything for the spectators, lots of attacking play, mistakes, fouls, good periods of open play, lots of  goals, the riviting conversation throughout their team, which always seamed to end in F---ing, and then not forgetting the  referee!!!!
It was again a shame Riverside could not field there strongest 11 for this important cup encounter,a game that was there for the taking, if more of the chances created had been taken and with a few less elimentary defending errors made,ie.No talking to each other, not picking up quickly enough, not allowing the opposition time to control and turn with the ball, and not covering the ball over the top, only played straight into there hands.
However, taking everything into consideration,i thought this was probably one of the poorest games you have had and highlighted the fact that when Deano is not playing or is not 100%,the team don't perform either.

SILEBY ATHLETIC VS RIVERSIDE

The Morning After The Night Before !

I think the heading says it all, although it was a very attacking, hard fought physical encounter it was obvious Riverside were not at there best from the start.
However, taking this all into consideration, a much needed change in tactics in the second half enabled Riverside to start playing more football and create chances.
If it wasn't for some excellent saves from the opposition substitute keeper Riverside could have knicked the victory in the end and taken all the points, however, I think it was probably a fair result that both sides shared the points.

  THE GREAT ESCAPE

For those of you that can remember the game there were a few things that were positive; Matt at right back, and Hodgen
in defence worked really hard. You managed to get your heads up for the first time after going behind, and you nicked a point.

The negatives were, you were caught offside several times when sileby cleared they came out and we didnt follow the last man and look for the quick break.

Motivate and encourage each other instead of arguing. Dean - Matty sort it.

We didnt get the ball in the box quick enough and gave there defence to much time to get organised,  get it in early.

1-0 and then 3-3... must be missing Phil.
